Patsy Palmer: 'EastEnders could write Bianca out'

Patsy Palmer is aware that her EastEnders alter-ego may be written out in the future.

The 39-year-old actress, who is taking a six-month break from mouthy market seller Bianca Butcher, acknowledged that writers may make the decision to axe her character from the BBC soap one day.

"I'm really grateful that I've got such a good job, but at the same time I don't get paid for not going to work so in effect I'm losing out on six months worth of wages," she said on This Morning.

"You never know when they're going to do that on EastEnders. Obviously some amazing characters have been written out or died. They haven't written me out yet, but you never know."

Ricky & Diane Butcher back on EastEnders

EastEnders stars Sid Owen and Sophie Lawrence are set to make guest appearances on the soap, it has been reported.

According to the Daily Star the actors, who play Ricky and Diane Butcher respectively, will return for guest appearances for the wedding of sister Janine, who is marrying Michael Moon.

Lawrence's character Diane has not been seen on Albert Square since 2008, while Owen took an extended break from the programme last year, and filmed his final scenes in the winter.

Owen's on-screen wife Patsy Palmer, who plays Bianca, announced last month that she is also taking a hiatus from the BCC soap.

Janine and Michael are expected to marry in the summer.

Dot to take brief soap break

June Brown, who plays the part of Dot Branning on Eastenders is taking a six month break from the soap.

It is reported that Brown, who joined the cast as Dot Cotton in 1985, has plans to write her autobiography during her time off.

Speaking to The Mirror newspaper a production insider said: "Some friends on the set feared she may be considering a permanent exit but EastEnders bosses are determined to keep her and they have offered her six months off which she has taken.

"She has admitted the filming can be exhausting and she feels some time off is long overdue."

Brown filmed her exit scenes last week and will be seen leaving the show around the middle of May.

Hetti Bywater eyes Lucy and Fat Boy romance

EastEnders star Hetti Bywater has admitted she would love to see her headstrong character Lucy Beale find love with Fat Boy.

The actress, who joined the soap as the troubled teen earlier this year - replacing previous actress Melissa Suffield - told Inside Soap magazine that she thinks Fat Boy would be a good influence on Lucy.

"I think Lucy is probably best suited to Fat Boy," Hetti revealed. "He's such a nice character, so considering all of the scheming and plotting Lucy gets up to, I think he'd bring her back down to earth.

"A relationship would really do her good, and I think Fat Boy is the perfect person for that."

The 17-year-old added that while she enjoys playing Lucy, she could not be more different from her screen alter ego.

"It's fun to portray someone so naughty and mischievous because she's so far removed from myself," she admitted.
